Making Money Easy has been created with three levels – Basic, Intermediate and Advanced – so that participants can begin at their appropriate skill level. Participants can repeat each module as often as needed and then progress to the next one when ready.

About this course
Making Money Easy is an online course that was specially created for people who live with mild to moderate intellectual disability. It helps with learning basic counting and money handling skills, how to budget and how to complete a range of simple to more complex financial transactions. The course helps empower participants by building independence around tasks such as paying bills and handling money when shopping. Ultimately, individuals will gain greater knowledge and skills in financial literacy and improve their confidence, which often leads to positive changes in behaviour.
Through a variety of quizzes, games and staged learning goals, Making Money Easy is engaging and enjoyable for participants. For providers, teachers and parents, it provides a comprehensive evaluation and reporting platform to gauge progress. It includes in-class and at-home evaluation methods so that achievement of goals can be regularly assessed throughout the learning process.
Making Money Easy has been designed in a modular format to be easy to understand and navigate for those who have intellectual challenges and limited literacy. Lesson guides have been created for each of the Basic, Intermediate and Advanced modules. They include suggested lesson plans and a combination of theory and practical exercises that help to reinforce learning and build the participant’s confidence in using their new skills.
Making Money Easy is web-based so participants can continue with their course anywhere and at any time.
Basic level - What you will learn
In this introduction to the basics of money, participants learn how to count to one hundred, identify and count using money and learn about price rounding and practise shopping exercises. This level is an excellent starting point for all participants, even if their skills are more advanced, to discover how Making Money Easy works.

Participants recap on the concepts learned in the Basic section. They look at needs versus wants, how to pay using the correct change and without the correct money. They learn how to plan and develop a budget and focus on budget goals as they work towards independence in money handling.

The Advanced level teaches participants about various online banking services such as ATMs, tap and go and paying with credit cards. They are taught how to read bills and payslips, pay bills and shop online and learn about online security and their rights and responsibilities as a consumer.
